A couple is not able to get officially married in Mozambique unless they are resident in the country. It is therefore wise to get the legalities performed in your home country.
Missionary: We can assist in sourcing a priest to do the ceremony as there are usually missionaries who often move around the area quite a bit. Please let our office know if you would like to have the ceremony performed by a local priest.
Friend: Many couples use family members or friends to conduct the ceremony. This is always very personal and the advantage is that the ceremony can be written by the couple getting married.
Photographer
There cannot be a more beautiful photographic setting for a wedding couple than Vilanculos Beach Lodge.
Your photographer will be given a 20% discounted rate on dinner bed and breakfast for a maximum of 3 nights.
Flowers and decor
Flowers need to be flown in from Johannesburg. Please enquire from the Lodge regarding flight times and schedules.
Vilanculos Beach Lodge does not take any responsibility for the arrangement of flowers; this should be done by the wedding party.
Import fees might be applicable at the airport, and an invoice needs to accompany the flowers because they need to be declared at customs, Vilanculos. Duty might be payable.
Local materials e.g. shells, drift wood, sand, curios can be used very effectively in place of flowers. These can be used for table decorations etc.
Palm fronds are readily available locally and the traditional way of enhancing a wedding venue. Strips of palm can be used as table decoration.
(Please discuss specifications with the Lodge Management, as fees might be applicable)
Flower petals & bubbles are a good alternative to the traditional throwing of good luck confetti.
Music
The local, rural church choir can be arranged to sing during the ceremony. The songs are normally either Portuguese or Matswa, the local language spoken in the area. They will charge a nominal fee.
A local musician or DJ can be arranged and will be charged accordingly.
Music will be turned down at 22h00 to avoid disturbing other Lodge guests. If the wedding party takes the entire lodge the music can be played loudly until the party ends.
Should you wish to bring your own DJ, he would have to supply his own equipment, as we only have a CD player. Bar
We require the client to brief us regarding their bar requirements for the provision of specific wine and champagne as orders need to be placed at least 8 weeks prior to the wedding to allow the Lodge time to import any special requests not available locally.
